Relationship Capital
Major projects depend on more than sound planning, technical expertise, and effective project controls. They also depend on the quality of the relationships among Indigenous Nations, project owners, contractors, consultants, governments, and communities.
Relationship Capital is the trust, credibility, mutual understanding, and goodwill built between the people and organizations involved in a project. It is accumulated — or depleted — through repeated interactions over time.
Even when the project plan is strong, low trust can make projects harder to move forward.
